Closing event of the project "Development of National Climate Adaptation Network (CLIM-NET/HUN)"

The closing event of the project EEA-C2-2 Development of National Climate Adaptation Network (CLIM-NET/HUN) project was held 26 April, 2016, in the conference hall of the Ottó Hermann Institute in Budapest. As part of this conference the achieved results were presented as well as 20 certificates were handed over to the experts who took part in the training programme. After the presentations interactive discussions were held in the form of roundtable discussions.

This event concluded the climate consultant training series of DIPOL Group. It was opened by Mr. János Árpád Potápi, State Secretary for National Politics. He highlighted that stopping climate change and mitigating its adverse effects is a priority objective also for Hungarian National Policy. Mr. János Árpád Potápi has underlined that in the 2014-2020 EU budgeting period funds are available to effectively combat climate change related processes. With this fundraising opportunity in mind, it is crucial to have a national network of climate change experts, who are well trained to develop strong project proposals and implement successful projects.

The training programme organised by DIPOL Group was implemented in ten counties, at 20 locations, and has trained more than 300 municipal staff to become climate consultants. In five villages a methodological guidebook was written, which can serve as the basis to develop local climate change strategies. The training programme started in September 2016, using funds provided by Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway.
